Pastels and all
Ah, oil pastels — a medium that takes creativity to an entirely new level. I was gutted to have missed this topic in my very first adult drawing class back in 2022. But even without that initial introduction, I was determined to make it work.
My very first oil pastel piece — the fish you see here — was done on a 9x11" sketch pad. I was simply experimenting at the time, but it sparked something. From there, I dove in: watching countless YouTube videos, taking on personal projects, and pushing myself to learn. Somewhere along the way, the medium began to speak to me like an old friend — something wonderfully familiar.
It’s still early days, but with oil pastels, the possibilities feel truly endless. I’m excited to see where the journey takes me, and to keep the creative juices flowing.
